The Bush House is not your typical Game lodge. It is an old farmhouse that after years of family laughter and happiness has been transformed into an inviting and relaxing residence.

We pride ourselves on really caring for our guests and being attentive to their needs. As an owner-managed Lodge the personal touch is an integral part of our service.

It could be the luxuries you enjoy. The sumptuous bushveld cuisine or the service so close you only have to lift a finger. Or maybe it’s more about the whole experience than a single sighting.

More about the memories you made while you were one with nature as you pulled the bushveld around your shoulders like a blanket, and in a strange, familiar way you felt completely at home.

That’s why people come back to The Bush House. Again and again. For most of our guests, just it’s like that, like coming home – even for the first time.

    Madikwe Game Reserve

“A perfect end to an amazing trip!”

I can’t say enough good things about the Bush House! It’s amazing! From the warmest of welcomes on arrival to the lovely, spacious, comfy rooms to the wonderful staff, delicious food, waterhole & incredible underground hide! It was all fantastic. And that’s even before I get to the game drives! We had Michael as our ranger and he was awesome: a calm, quiet thoughtful young man with a lovely temperament & exceptional knowledge of the bush & all its inhabitants. We saw more high-quality game viewings in 3 days with Michael than most people see in a lifetime. It was definitely the highlight of our trip! Shanel & Dani also looked after us extremely well & their hospitality along with the small size of the lodge made us feel part of an extended family. We loved every minute & will definitely be back! Thank you so much.

We stayed at the Bush house for 3 nights and loved every minute of it! The staff was exceptional, especially Ashley our safari guide. She was friendly and very knowledgeable about every animal. We saw Elephants, Rhinos, Zebras (everywhere), Impalas, Giraffes, kudus, cheetahs, lions (while eating their dinner!!), too many beautiful birds to even count & so much more. Even in an open land cruiser, I felt completely safe the entire time. The bush house facilities were clean and comfortable. The food was excellent! We flew into Johannesburg and drove the couple hour drive, but I would recommend flying into the reserve itself. I hear it can have delays though if stubborn animals won’t move off the runway! Haha. Absolutely the best part of our trip was here.

    “Perfect time with the wild”

Our stay there was perfect. They took care of all the details. All we had to do was enjoy the nature, the fantastic game drives, the delicious food and wine. Our ranger, Ashley, was fantastic. She made everything she could to provide us the best experience with the animals and she succeeded!!! We had unforgettable moments with lions, elephants, rinos, hypos and the nice zebras. All of them with their babies. Madikwe game reserve is not crowded and it leads to special moments observing the wildlife.

    “Wonderful Lodge”

My girlfriend and I stayed for three nights, and we loved everything about our experience. We didn’t see as much game in Madikwe Reserve as we did in our lodge in Kruger, but I would absolutely return to the Bush House in a heartbeat! We did end up seeing all of the Big 5 (and more), and our guide Ashleigh was delightful. The Hide was a real bonus experience, and in our opinion, would justify a return to the lodge. The staff at the lodge were absolutely wonderful, and we very much enjoyed interacting with the other guests. I really appreciated the staff’s recognition of my girlfriend’s birthday, too!
